Modern Studies Higher visit to Scottish Parliament

Friday 14th December 2018

On December 5th, Modern Studies Higher pupils made a trip to the Scottish Parliament to help consolidate all the knowledge they have been gaining in class.

Both classes attended an interactive law-making session (where they got to wear snazzy ‘Party’ hats), a question and answer session with either Miles Briggs (Lothian MSP) or Angela Johnstone (Lothian MSP), and attended an afternoon debate in the Debating Chamber.

The timing of our visit meant that we were able to watch the Scottish Parliament Brexit debate which involved hearing motions from Jackson Carlaw, Neil Findlay and Ross Greer and an awful lot of heated exchanges between Party members. As this is a topic we study in class it helped bring the subject to life.

Well done to all seniors who attended and were a credit to the school.
