The Primary Seven pupils who will be visiting ‘the Big School’ on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week have already made a very good impression on their future Modern Languages teachers !
Since April, P7 classes at Bonnyrigg, Hawthornden, Lasswade, Rosewell, Paradykes and Burnbrae Primary Schools have been busy preparing short films and Powerpoint presentations about the ‘Francophonie’ – the association of countries that speak French (It’s not all about France, after all).
The films and presentations will be shown in Modern Languages classes to all visiting P7 pupils (and there will be questions for them to answer about each country).
Countries covered include : Rwanda, Morocco, Algeria, Canada (Quebec), Haiti, Belgium, Switzerland, Cameroon, Reunion … and France.
French really is a global language !!
Topics covered include history, sport, politics, music, clothing and art.
An incredible amount of work has gone into the project, which ran for the first time last year.
All our visitors will be finding out loads of new facts and figures, which should whet their appetite for learning more French from August onwards. And, who knows, the Modern Languages teachers might learn something new, too !
