New DHT Appointed

Wednesday 16th October 2019

We are pleased to report that Ms Ali Mitchell was recently appointed as DHT Curriculum.  Her main responsibilities will include; our curricular architecture, skills for learning, life and work, business engagement and the career long professional learning of our staff.  She will join our school on Monday 6th January 2020.   In the interim Mrs Clark will continue to ‘act’ in this role.

Ms Mitchell came through a two stage process that involved interviews with a range of school stakeholders. At the beginning of October she was interviewed by a panel consisting primarily of members of our Parent Council and Midlothian Councillors.

Currently DHT at Queensferry High School,  Ms Mitchell brings senior leadership experience to our team and a track record of innovation and success.  Prior to that she has been Principal Teacher Music and Curriculm Leader Expressive Arts, also in Queensferry High School.

Ms Mitchell in response to the appointment said, ‘I’m am delighted to have come through this process.  As a DHT I passionately believe I am in a privileged position to positively affect the educational experiences and outcomes of young people. I lead with a strong values based approach which underpins all relationships and interactions with staff, students, partners and families. I believe I can add a new dynamic to the existing team, bringing experience, new ideas and a fresh perspective that complements the whole school vision and values at Lasswade High School.’
