Wednesday 25th April 2018
This morning at our S5 Assembly Mr Hornell spoke to the year group to outline the expectations and opportunities available to students as part of their S6 experience. The assembly focused on the S6 Leadership Team (S6LT). This team will consist of School Captains and House Captains who will have applied for, been interviewed, presented to staff and their peers, and then voted into membership of the S6LT.
This year we have decided to remove the titles Head Boy, Head Girl and Deputies to reflect the workplace where people are not ‘recruited’ on the basis of gender. The S6LT should be consist of the best people for the role. We believe the School Captain role will makes for a more inclusive S6LT and helps combat male/female stereotypes. While School Captains will perform a similar role to Head Boy/Girl the message we send through the ‘job’ title is important.
Students also benefited from hearing from our current, and last, Head Boy and Girl who outlined some of the benefits and challenges associated with the role.
Appliccatiuons are invited with paper copies distributed at the assembly. Copies are available from Student Support, the School Office or can be downloaded from the link below. Applications to be submitted to the School Office by Friday 11th May.
