Covid-19 Update 17/03/20

Tuesday 17th March 2020

We are pleased to welcome back our S1 students on Wednesday 18th March.  However, it is with regret that due to a doubling of unavailable staff during the course of the day we’ve had to inform the parent/carers of S2 and S3 that they should not attend on Wednesday.  These students should be able, and encouraged, to access learning opportunities via GLOW and our Google Classrooms.

In effect our approach is to prioritise in school time, and staff,  for our Senior Phase (S4/S5/S6)  students as they work towards completing SQA coursework and course requirements.   I am pleased to report that while attendance is inevitably down, over 70% of our Senior Phase students were able to attend today.  In addition,  the level of maturity and responsibility shown by almost all our students in this challenging time is heart-warming.

We will continue to monitor both staff and student attendance to make best use of available resources to achieve our immediate objectives.   To this end it is highly likely that I will request Midlothian Council approves our proposals for Thursday and Friday.  At this time they are

Please note that these days are advised to give parent/carers notice of potential action we will take.  They are not yet approved by Midlothian Council.  As you will appreciate the situation is fluid and we will aim to confirm arrangements for Thursday, via GroupCall, by lunchtime tomorrow.

I am sure that you are aware that advice from Scottish Government changes on a regular basis and the website below is one I’m sure you access regularly.  If you don’t,  please do

As always we will continue to update our website regularly.  Please also note that we have created a sub-folder within our news section unimaginatively called ‘Covid-19’ where all posts in relation to the virus are posted.
