English Department’s Wonderful World Book Day 2019

Thursday 14th March 2019

On the 7th of March 2019, World Book Day events took place nationally.

Here at Lasswade, the English Department celebrated the occasion by dressing as a series of well-known literary figures; Gatsby from The Great Gatsby, Miss Havisham from Great Expectations and Stanley Yelnats from the popular novel Holes to name but a few. These costumes were extremely popular with students. The library also ran a series of events including designing a World Book Day token.

This is the 22nd World Book Day, and every year the event aims to highlight the importance and pleasure of reading, and to ensure as many young people as possible have a book of their own.
