Thursday 7th February 2019
At our Parent Council Meeting last night, with ‘Budget’ as the main item we agreed the need for an additional Parent Council/Forum Meeting on Monday 25th February. This meeting will begin at 7.00pm in the Assembly Hall. All parent/carers are invited.
As there has been a degree of uncertainty and movement on the budget our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) have been endeavouring, from a staffing/timetabling perspective, to work through a range of solutions – the details of which will be shared at our meeting on Monday 25th February. Our aim is to listen and take account of the parental viewpoint before confirming our staffing/timetable plans for next session in mid-March.
All of the above assumes Midlothian Council agrees a balanced budget on Tuesday 12th February, we expect to be given our allocated staffing budget at the end of that week/beginning of the following. This allows us to make recommendations for parents/carers to consider.
The points listed below, in no particular order, will make you aware of the issues that SLT have been considering to date. Specific detail on almost all of these will be treated as confidential at this stage, until we have additional clarity regarding our funding allocation. However, we will provide detail on Monday 25th February:
As you will have noticed at this stage, nothing is off the table and each of the changes above would alter the service that we are able to offer to our students and their parents. Please rest assured that our aim remains the same; to provide the highest possible service we can with the resources we have available.
In addition, to allow for this process and ensure we provide the best service we can for our students, whilst continuing to promote our school priorities, the following has also been agreed:
