Forum for SCEN Ambassadors

Tuesday 6th February 2018

The latest Forum of SCEN (Scotland China Education Network) Ambassadors was held on 2nd Feb at the impressive South Hall, Pollock Halls at the University of Edinburgh.

The purpose of the Forum was to outline the Mission and Structure of the SCEN Ambassador programme and to discuss various aspects of the programme.  We were fortunate to welcome representatives from Schools, Universities, Colleges and the Scotland China Association.

Maia Hollins-Kirk and Lewis Hanley (both members of SCEN Youth Committee) outlined the programme and the 3 levels of Ambassador, Panda, Tiger and Dragon as well as the Role of Mentor Teachers. Delegates then split into groups to discuss, make suggestions and draw up future plans. These groups were ably and efficiently chaired by members of the Youth Committee: Peter Tompkins (Holyrood Secondary School), Oliver Mee (Merchieston Castle School), Megan Robertson (Edinburgh University), Zhang Hao  (Edinburgh University) and Maia and Lewis (Lasswade High School).

Nathan Lamb, Matuesz Korbanek, Anna Blair, Chloe Hume, Cameron Bisset and Lawrie Tice-Young joined students from Grangemouth HS, St Thomas of Aquins HS and Boroughmuir HS joined delegates from other SCEN affiliated organisations. Discussion was lively, well-informed providing much food for thought and outlining huge potential for future SCEN events and projects.
