Monday 11th November 2019
The Modern Languages Department is convinced that many current S2 pupils will do well in our subjects if they continue to learn at least one language in S3.
We would like to invite you to attend an information evening in the Assembly Hall at the school on the evening of Wednesday 11th December. The event will be from 7.OO – 8.30 pm.
As well as explaining the possible language combinations available in S3 (and beyond) we have invited a very distinguished panel of guest-speakers to speak about the benefits of learning at least one Modern Language in S3 for life and work.
Guests will include academics, businesspeople, a lawyer and Modern Languages Students.
Parents and guardians of pupils in this position will shortly be receiving a text-message asking them to have a look at this post on the school website. If you’re here because you got the message (which should be going out early week beginning 11 th November), thank you for taking the time to investigate further.
French, Mandarin and German will all be represented. Confirmed guest-list to follow !
There will also be opportunities to ask questions of our guests and light refreshments will be available.
We expect this to be a very well-attended event (We filled the Assembly Hall at last year’s event). We can accommodate approximately 250 people and would be grateful if you could email me J.Poots@mgfl.net as soon as possible to let me know if you can attend (and who will be attending with you. Ideally, one parent would attend with one child, which would help us reach as many families as possible. We would really like both parents and pupils to attend !)
A reply along the lines of :
‘I (insert your name here) am the parent of (insert child’s name here) and I would like to attend Going Further With Modern Languages. I will be attending with (insert name of child or partner)’
will do the trick. Please feel free to cut and paste.
It would be really helpful if I could have replies by 18th November.
I do look forward to hearing from you soon and meeting you at the event to explain why we feel that your child should Go Further With Modern Languages !
