Friday 7th December 2018
Human Utopia recently returned to Lasswade High School to continue working with our pupils to help increase their knowledge of how to make positive changes to their lives.
The team initially worked closely with a group of 27 S4 pupils who had chosen to become Heroes. The Heroes journey involves a young person joining team Heroes; a group of students in the school who are committed to becoming good role models to younger pupils.
The S4 Heroes enjoyed an intensive full-day of training to help them develop essential Leadership, Employability and Lifelong-learning skills. The heroes did fantastically well, and, even when they were faced with a surprise visit from over 50 primary 6 and 7 pupils from Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Primary schools, they took this in their stride and confidently and maturely put their training into action.
All S2 pupils, supported by S4 hero’s, were then involved in an inspiring, full-day session called “Who am I?”. Pupils were challenged to open-up and be honest with themselves and their peers.
During this session Human Utopia work to tackle Hope, Confidence, Happiness, Relationships and Employability, leaving everyone involved feeling great and ready to tackle the daily challenges they face.
Our S4 and S6 Heroes will now work with younger pupils to help promote a positive school culture and support younger pupils to help them build confidence and achieve their full potential.
