Tuesday 25th September 2018
It was a windy night on the Lasswade pitch as the Senior Boys Football Team took on a strong Heriot’s side.
The away team started brightly with lots of possession, but Lasswade were soon organised and into the match, cheered on by an excellent home support and coach Mr Attinasi.
Lasswade conceded the opening goal of the match, with keeper Kadin Boak struggling to keep out a second effort by the Heriot’s forward.
After the first goal, the tempo of the game went up a notch, with both sides contesting lots of headers and slide tackles. The Heriot’s keeper was kept busy with a few Lasswade efforts on goal and some excellent link-up play by Kyle Burns.
A low winter sun made visibility difficult, and despite increasing chances Lasswade went 2-0 down. The boys didn’t lose heart however, and regrouped to pull it back to 2-1 after a bit of confusion in the Heriot’s penalty box; Arran Laidlaw with an excellent finish.
Lasswade were to add to their tally in the second half thanks to another goal by Laidlaw and for a while it was a close game, but the strength of Heriot’s was to show as they went 3-2 up and then 4-2 just before the final whistle went.
Overall, a hugely competitive game with some great football from both sides, and a real test for Lasswade who played well.
