New Depute HT Appointment

Wednesday 14th February 2018

Congratulations to Ms Lynsey Struthers who has been appointed as Depute Head Teacher with principal responsibility for Learning, Teaching and Assessment.   Ms Struthers has previously been ‘acting’ in this role.  Prior to that she has been Principal Teacher English and Literacy in our school and made an outstanding impact in that role.

Ms Struthers was one of over 30 applicants for this post and was initially interviewed in December,  coming through a process that involved interviews with a range of school staff and students.   In January she was interviewed by a panel consisting primarily of members of our Parent Council and Midlothian Councillors.  Yesterday the appointment was ratified at a Midlothian Council Cabinet Meeting.

Ms Struthers in response to the appointment said, ‘I’m am delighted to have come through this process.  I’ve worked in Lasswade High School since April 2015 and have loved my time with the English Team.  The staff and students are fantastic and I’m looking forward to continuing to drive forward our Learning @ Lasswade agenda.  High quality learning and teaching is the key to ensuring our students are successful and this will be my focus in my new role.’

Ms Struthers is currently on maternity leave and will begin in her new role at the start of June.
