New Session Begins

Monday 20th August 2018

Our students returned to Lasswade High School today following their summer break.  We were pleased to welcome almost 300 new S1 students who started their day in the Assembly Hall.  Thereafter, and from 9.00am these S1 students attended their regular Monday classes.  The picture shows a S1 Modern Languages class.  Helped by their S6 Buddies our new S1 have made a great first impression.   This week will see them granted an early break and lunch to assist with their induction to the school.

The day witnessed a series of ‘Welcome Back’ assemblies for all year groups.  These were initially led by the Head Teacher who introduced our new School Captains.  Following that our DHT Year Heads led with bespoke messages for each year group.  It was particularly pleasing to share with Senior Phase students their collective/Year Group SQA successes.

At lunchtime a faulty sensor in the school kitchen resulted in a fire evacuation at lunchtime.  Students should be praised for their calm and orderly behaviour during this unexpected event.
