S1 Student Parent/Carer Consultation Evening (Student Support)

On Thursday 17th September 4.30pm – 7.30pm, the online S1 Student Parent/Carer Consultation Evening will be taking place. This consultation evening is led by our Student Support team (Melville, Mount Esk, St Anne’s and St Leonard’s). The Student Support Team teach all S1 students on a weekly basis as part of the Personal and Social Education curriculum and they provide all of our S1 students with regular support. The system that we use for S1-S6 Parents’ Evenings is called ‘Parents Booking’ (see website https://www.parents-booking.co.uk/lasswade).

Dates for your diary – the booking system opens at 6pm on Sunday 6th September and will close at 10am on Tuesday 15th September.

You will not be able to log in to your account before this time. There will be no admin support available until the morning of Monday 7th September.

Our Parents’ Evenings are fully online (video call), so if you have not taken part in an online Parents’ Evening at Lasswade HS before, please read the Parent/Carer User Guide ahead of the evening or watch this useful video Video Meetings Demo, with Troubleshooting.

Each appointment lasts for 4 minutes (on screen timer) and will be automatically end when the 4 minutes is up.

The curricular S1 Parent/Carer Consultation Evenings will be taking place on Thursday 22nd October 4.30pm – 6.30pm (Melville and Mount Esk) and Tuesday 27th October 4.30pm – 6.30pm (St Anne’s and St Leonard’s). During these evenings you will have the opportunity to speak with your young persons subject teachers, also using the online meeting system (video call). This will be available to book during October, more information will follow.

If more than one parent/carer wishes to join the video call, the identified ‘main carer’ (person who makes the appointments) must be the person to share the joining details with the other parent/carer. The link to share will be available by logging in on the day of the consultation.

Uniform Fitting Event

We are pleased to inform you that staff from BE uniforms will be in the school atrium on Tuesday 16th June 4:00pm – 5:30pm to provide an opportunity for parents and carers to attend with their young person to try items on to ensure correct size and fit. There is there is the opportunity to place an order during the event or online at a later date.

Lasswade High School receive year round reduced pricing so no additional discounts offered by BE are available.

There will also be the opportunity to purchase iron on school badges as well as school ties.

Dress Down Day – 24/04/2026

Lasswade High School is proud to support the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity through our upcoming Dress Down Day. The Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity use your fundraising to help to make sure seriously ill children and young people don’t miss out on what they would usually be doing at school or with friends and family while they are in hospital. Every contribution can make a meaningful difference..

Dress Down Day – 27/03/2026

Lasswade High School is proud to support the Anthony Nolan charity through our upcoming Dress Down Day. The Anthony Nolan trust raises awareness and funds for a cause that gives people with blood cancer and blood disorders a second chance at life. Anthony Nolan works to recruit potential stem cell donors and match them with patients in urgent need of lifesaving transplants. Donations help to process new donors, provide support to families, and fund vital research. Every contribution can make a meaningful difference and bring hope to those waiting for a match.

At the start of February, we managed to get 88 S5, S6 and staff members on the register, which is fantastic.

Creative & Cultural Showcase

Our Creative & Cultural Showcase is taking place on Thursday 13th November 6pm – 8pm. We look forward to welcoming our young people and their families into the building to celebrate the creativity and achievements of our Lasswade students.

6.00pm-6.30pm: EXHIBITION – Free to attend

In the school’s atrium, there will be an exhibition showcasing S1-S6 work from a wide range of subject areas including: Creative Thinking, Photography, Design & Manufacture, Practical Woodworking, Graphic Communication, Built Environment, Media, Fashion and Art. We will also have a pop up shop, raffle and Barista Bar with hot drinks and sweet treats made by our own student Baristas! Please note this is a cash only event. Please don’t miss out!

6.30pm – 8:00pm: FASHION SHOW, DANCE, MEDIA SCREENING & AWARDS – Ticketed £2 per person via ParentPay

Again this year, we have a fashion show, dance performance, media screening and live music which will begin at 6.45pm. This will be followed by our student awards.

For this part of the evening please purchase a ticket from ParentPay for £2 per person. Tickets must be purchased before Friday 7th November via Parentpay. Numbers for this element are limited due to seating capacity. Names of show ticketholders will be checked off at the entrance to the assembly hall.

** In tandem with this evening, Lasswade High School will be hosting career professionals along with representatives from Colleges and Further Education organisations, who will be delivering engaging insight sessions about careers within Creative and Cultural sectors. This is part of a series of inspiring career-themed events taking place across our Midlothian high schools this November for S4 – S6 pupils. More details about how to sign up for these sessions will be sent separately.

S2 Creative Design Update

Our S2 Students have made an excellent start to the year in Creative Design. The S2 course has a focus on developing subject specific skills in both Art & Design and Design Technology. Students will also be developing their creative and critical thinking.

For those who elect to continue Art & Design in S3, there will be a trip to Jupiter Artland before the change of timetable in May. This is a fantastic experience and a compulsory part of our S3 Art & Design curriculum. Please note that in line with our risk assessment process, students suitability for the trip will be reviewed on an individual basis. Places will be prioritised for those who engage well in Art & Design and meet our expectations for positive behaviour, both in the department and the wider school.

Whole School Photographs Monday 25th & Tuesday 26th August 2025

Our school photographers Coldwells will be in on Monday and Tuesday next week to take individual photographs for all students as well as the S6 Year Group photograph.

The planned schedule is attached, this is subject to change.

Parentsportal.scot Launch

Lasswade High School is piloting the first phase of the roll out of the parentsportal.scot online service to Midlothian Schools. This online service will allow you to communicate directly with our school at a time convenient to you. Find out more here.

Parentsportal – Help

To sign up and link to your child’s record on parentsportal.scot, the information you provide must match what we hold on our school system. Points to note:

As this is being introduced at change of timetable, please register using your young person’s registration class for session 2024/2025. Not their new registration class from 2^nd June 2025.
Parentsportal asks for first and middle names of students however for the majority of our students we only hold first name on their file, this may cause a matching error.
Please be aware due to this being rolled out to the whole school, the admin team are working to get everyone connected throughout June. You will receive a notification on Parentsportal when your account has been linked.
If any of your contact details, including address, have changed recently, please get in touch with the school via email lasswadehsoffice@midlothian.education prior to registering on the portal.

School Lockers

School lockers are available for hire for the new session. Pricing is as follows;

We are introducing a £5 deposit for the key which will be returned in cash when the key is handed back.

Locker Application Process

Step 1 Student (using their google login) completes the google form School Locker Application

Step 2 On receipt of the application form the admin team will add the payment to students ParentPay account.

Step 3 Parent/Carer makes payment on Parentpay

Step 4 Once payment has been confirmed the admin team will issue the locker key after the summer break

Any students who wish to hire a locker at a later stage can do so by completing the google form.

Please note – prices will not be reduced to take into account the later hire and there will be no refunds or changes.
