| My child was participating in both the Christmas concert and Panto this year, along with many other pupils. While I appreciate that it must be difficult to co-ordinate these events, I felt that the ticketing was unfair. We were unable to get tickets to either show as they sold out very quickly and I have other friends who were in the same situation. I know that for the panto some families managed to buy multiple tickets which were unused due to last minute changes of plan. Others attended both nights. Might I suggest that in future, parents/carers of performers are given first chance to buy tickets, max 2 each, before opening sale up to everyone else.
We were lucky enough to get 1 ticket for the panto an hour before the Thursday performance so one of us saw the show, which was wonderful! Congratulations to everyone involved. Thanks for considering this suggestion. |
Thank you. A really helpful comment. It appears we’ve inconsistent practice. At the concert it was a ‘mass’ release to all parents/carers, via ParentPay, with no account of those performing. For the Panto, the cast, but not chorus, were given a ‘presale’ option with 5 tickets per person, prior to the ‘mass’ release to all.
This does not seem ideal. I’d agree that if your child is performing you should have the opportunity to see them. I’m sorry that has not been the case for yourself, and potentially others. I’ve asked Miss Petrie, DHT, to link in with the Performing Arts and School Office Team to review our practice. The aim will be to establish a consistent and transparent approach that is underpinned by a strong rationale. I’ll report back in the next few weeks through a HT Update. |
| This wasn’t relevant to myself but I wanted to comment. We hoped to get Panto tickets but weren’t quick enough, fair enough and I had no children in it. However, from what I understand, parents of students in the play also didn’t get tickets. A fairer system would be to offer every participant two tickets each before opening up to everyone else. As I say, I wasn’t directly impacted but felt for those who couldn’t get to see their child perform. Thanks . |
Thanks, see above. |
