Response to feedback submitted from HT Update week ending 13/03/26.

| Can we clarify with the ban on mobile phone use in school whether children can have their phones during lunch break outwith the school building/area please? This is always an opportunity for us as parents to communicate after school arrangements etc with them and check on their wellbeing; and when they leave the premises it keeps track of their location for safety.
As much as we understand the ban, it seems unfortunate that the minority have ruined it for the majority. |
The next phase is to work up our action plan to implement a phone free school. This is one of the areas we’ll discuss and clarify as part of the process. I’ll forward this comment onto Mrs Yule who is our lead on this work.
Having said that, the schools we’ve consulted with do allow students access to their phones at lunch and break, albeit outside the actual building. I expect that will be the case with us too. This is for the reasons you describe. There are other reasons too, including paying for items students buy for their lunch off campus. |
