Staffing Update:  Ms Fiona Williams, RMPS, will be retiring at the end of this session after 36 years of teaching within our school. We wish her all the very best as she heads towards a new chapter in her life. There will be many current and former students, parents/carers and staff who will remember her fondly.  We are planning a website profile on Ms Williams soon!   Final push to spread the word re our Business Manager vacancy. Our request is that parents with networks, e.g., through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn spread the word.  The advert is posted on MyJobScotland and can be accessed via this link,  click here.  The post closes on Tuesday 6th June.

Fairtrade: Thank you to everyone across our school community who have supported our S3 Geography class’ activities for raising money for the Fairtrade Foundation. They have raised £427.36, which is an excellent effort.   In addition, we are now officially a ‘Fairtrade School’ and have achieved the ‘FairActive’ award – well done to all those involved in leading this work  In particular, from a staff perspective, Miss Conlan.

Parent Council:   Our last Parent Council Meeting of the session was held on Tuesday 30th May.  There was robust discussion on the successes and achievements of the school this session and planning for next session,  the school budget,  calendar issues for next session and the recruitment process for our new School and House Captains.  Thanks to all who attended.

National Discussion:  At a national level education reform remains highly significant and an ongoing process.  Potential reforms will be significant.  This week the National Discussion Report was published.  This is a significant document as we move forward.  A summary can be accessed on the government website click here.  If you fancy a bash at the full report click here.  We will digest the report over the next few weeks as we formulate our responses to the ‘Call to Action’ aspects of the report.

Gold School Sport Award:  We are delighted to inform you that our school has been awarded a sportscotland Gold School Sport Award for 2023-2025.  This is our second award at this level.   The Gold School Sport Award is recognition of our achievements in putting sport at the heart of our school’s planning, practice and ethos.  It also highlights that we have shown excellent practice across the core areas of the award and demonstrated an on-going commitment to increase young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership and provide clear pathways to life-long participation in sport.  As you’d expect we are delighted.  We’ll be able to replace the tattered flag that flies at the front of the school with a nice new one soon.  Thanks to all involved in our PE Team, and wider group of partners and volunteers.  Particular thanks to Miss Park, PE and Judith Clyne-Parker, Active Schools.
