Key messages from this week  

Calendar:  Significant events week beginning 5th October: Senior France Trip (5/10/26 – 09/10/26); Student Voice (throughout the week); APA Showcase (8/10/26); S3 Report issued (09/10/26)

Staffing: We have no vacancies live on myjobscotland.

Assessment Calendar: Our Senior Phase assessment calendar is now live, you can view this here. This will allow students and parent/ carers to see the assessment plan for the session. We operate our formal assessments in three assessment ‘windows’. The first of these windows is in November and the ‘main window’ is in January. Students will be given more information about assessments and coursework at an assembly after the October holiday.

Qualifications Scotland Appeals: The results of all non-priority appeals have been released this week. Students who entered an appeal should now have the result of this. In all, we had 6 course awards upgraded, from a total of 128 entered. A ‘return’ of 5%.

APA Showcase: Tickets for this year’s APA Showcase ‘A Million Dreams’ on Thursday 8th October went on sale this morning and have already sold out!

Device Use Consent Form: A new form has been added to Parentsportal. Please log in and complete the form by next Friday 9th October. This consent is required for students to use school devices. Thank you for your support.

FA Business Skills Placements Required: We are short of placements for the students undertaking the FA Business Skills course. The placement is a critical part of the Business FA  and can be a real game changer for students in relation to the experience this gives them, not only as part of their curricular learning, but also as they move beyond school and seek employment. Placements are for one morning or afternoon a week. If you – or someone you know – would be willing to offer a placement, please see the flyer attached and contact Rachel King, r.king64@midlothian.education, who will provide you with more detail.
