Key messages from this week
Calendar: Significant events week beginning 20/10/25; on Monday it’s our Inset 3, students should not attend; on Tuesday we’ve students from English on a Theatre Trip and SQA related Assemblies for S5 and S6; on Wednesday we’ve students from Photography out of school on a trip and a SQA related Assembly for S4; on Thursday we’ve a S5 Assembly to mark United Nations Day, and in the early evening it’s our S1 (ME/MK only) Student Parent Consultation Evening, see below.
Staffing: We have a temporary Teacher of Mathematics post and a permanent, part-time Learning Assistant role in The Pod currently live on myjobscotland. Both posts close on 19/10/25.

Wider Achievement News: A wee bit of holiday reading for you. The Autumn 2025 Edition of our Wider Achievement Newsletter is now on the website. It’s the first edition under Miss Hardie’s editorship. It’s a great effort by all. Thank you to the staff who are supporting our students and congratulations to them too! Please click here.
Christmas: I know it seems early, but!! Please save the date, our annual Lasswade HS Parent Council Christmas Fair is set for Wednesday 19th November. Our dining/catering staff have also set the days for the school Christmas Lunch, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th December.

Volunteering: Reminder, We are looking to improve and tidy up our outdoor spaces for the benefit of our school community. As part of this, we are keen to make links with local companies who have a strong focus on social responsibility and may be willing to offer time, services, or resources to support this work. If you know of any organisations, contacts, or individuals who may be interested in getting involved, please let me know via the feedback option at the end of this post. Thanks to those who responded last week.
Fright Night: Reminder, Our School Captains, led by Hana Rashid, are working on a Fright Night event aimed at S1 and S2. The event will consist of a haunted school tour where we will be touring with the S1s and S2s, scare maze style. Those attending can take part in Halloween games, with the chance to win spooktastic prizes and of course, dress your spookiest! This event will take place after school on Monday 27th October from 5:30 to 8pm. Tickets will be £5 per child and sold only on Parentpay until the 22nd of October so get them whilst you can!!! Join us as we discover the haunted past of your very own high school!
