Staffing: Congratulations to Caitlin Coyle, Mathematics, who has been appointed as Lead Teacher to support the L6 Accountancy Foundation Apprenticeship across all Midlothian schools on a 23 month secondment. Caitlin will be based at LHS and teach part of her week in The Dalkeith Campus. We have no posts currently live on myjobscotland.
Parentsportal: Please click here to access a letter regarding the rollout of a new application at Lasswade. We have successfully trialled it with S1 parents and carers this week and are now extending it to the wider school community. As S1 reports are due to be issued next week, we are keen to connect as many parents and carers as possible without delay. During this transition period, S1 Student Reports will also be provided in paper format. Going forward, we expect this application will be the platform through which you will access all future Student Reports, as well as a number of other functions designed to support communication and engagement.
2025/26 School Captains: Our six School Captains for 25/26 were appointed earlier this week. They are; Nicholas Bruce, Keryn Finlayson, Beth Forrester, Charlotte Gee, Liam Parkinson and Hana Rashid. I’ll meet with this group every Tuesday, beginning next week. Our House Captains have also been appointed and I’ll share their names and Houses next week.
P7 Transition Days: Our P7 students will be in school on Wednesday 11th – Friday 13th June. They will arrive in the playground at 8:50am and then have a short assembly for the remainder of period 1. S6 Buddies will be taking the P7s on a school tour during period 2 so they may only be in period 2 classes for about 20-30 minutes. S6 Buddies will support the P7s over the 3 days. To see the letter sent to parents/carers which includes further timetable details regarding the visit, click here.
BE Uniforms: Thank you to the parents, carers and students who attended the uniform fitting and ordering evening last week, it was very well attended. Please note that we have negotiated preferred pricing all year round on items offered by BE Uniforms as well as a reduced free delivery threshold, therefore any additional discounts or offers mentioned on their site do not apply. If you are still to order uniform for the next session you can still order via BE Uniforms.
Lockers: We are now accepting applications for lockers for next session please see link for more information.
Summer Show: Ticket sales for ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ have gone faster than free ‘Wonka Bars’. We are now sold-out. Thanks for your amazing support of this production.
Reporting Pattern: Last Week: Reminder At our most recent Parent Council Meeting I gathered feedback from those able to attend on our thinking around a LHS Reporting Pattern for next session. We view Reporting as a combination of written reports, our on-line evenings with teachers (Student Progress Consultation Evenings) and also the on-going communication that parents/carers have with our Teams in Student Support, Creative Learning and The Pod. To gather further information as we shape our offer please take the time to respond to this short survey, click here.
School Leavers, Chromebook Returns: Reminder, Students leaving school this summer, usually a few S4/S5 and all of S6, are expected to return their Chromebooks. It’s a simple process with devices handed into Room 112 or Student Support. Click here for an infographic Chromebook Return 2025
