Monday 28th March 2022
Over the last three Fridays our school community has raised over £3000 to support actions associated with the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. This Friday, 1st April, we want to step it up further with ‘U Train for Ukraine’. What this means is that we want as many of our staff and students as possible to either run or cycle/spin the equivalent of 2,303km. This is the ‘flight distance’ from Edinburgh to Kyiv. At the same time we want our staff and students, who volunteer to take part, to ‘encourage’ their nearest and dearest to support their efforts through our Just Giving page. Please access this via the link below
For ‘U Train 4 Ukraine’ we have created a 1km course for our runners and will set up static bikes in our Atrium area, with 5 minutes of continuous cycling equating to 2 km, for our cyclists. Students will be able to sign up through their Year Group Google Classrooms from Tuesday through Thursday this week to run/cycle at the following times
In addition, as S6 Year Head, Mr Chisholm has challenged S6 to a marathon relay, with a staff v S6 student race of 42 laps. This challenge has been accepted.
In the unlikely event that we don’t hit a cumulative 2, 303km on Friday, ‘U Train 4 Ukraine’ will continue into the last week of term, details of how to log kilometres to follow.
Our regular timetable will run for those who don’t want to take part and Senior Phase students will not be permitted to take part by coming out of SQA related classes.

The legal requirement to wear a face covering in most indoor places has now been replaced with general safety guidance encouraging people to wear face masks in busy/crowded places.
