‘Lasswade High School is an educational community whose vision and values embrace the challenges of academic excellence, responsibility and leadership, emotional awareness and participation in a wide variety of activities.
Academic excellence is of vital importance, but more important are the values that go with it. At Lasswade, boys and girls explore their identity and strengths, and develop the expertise that helps them to transform individual talents into accomplishments – accomplishments which will make them valued and respected as they move beyond the school in an increasingly complex and competitive world.
Our Vision statement ‘Dream, Believe and Achieve @ Lasswade’ highlights the way we live and work within and beyond the school day. We are focused on ensuring a growth mindset among our students which is embodied in our ‘DREAM’ values of Determination, Respect, Effort, Ambition and Motivation (for learning). Added to our outstanding pastoral care and pupil support service (highly praised by HMIe) within a House structure, this means that we treat our young people as important individuals who we value, support and foster. This kind of ‘compassionate wisdom’, together with a focus on aspiring to excellence, is what our staff treasure and strive for with all our young people and is a key aspect of what makes Lasswade distinctive today in Scottish Education.
I hope you will enjoy looking at the school’s website and that you will click below to read a fuller account of my ‘ambition & excellence’ agenda for transformational change in the school but it is no substitute for a visit to see first hand our incredible new facilities and experience our strong ethos and values.
We look forward to welcoming you to what is undoubtedly a remarkable and innovative institution that has every right to be seen as on of the leading local authority schools in both Scotland and the United Kingdom.’
