Coursing, Timetabling and E-Learning

Coursing

We are now reaching the close of our coursing phase. Over the last two weeks there have been a number of changes to students’ choices. Students who have changed subjects are reminded that the codes for their new classrooms are available through the Year Group Google Classrooms. Any students who have not yet received their subject choices should contact their Student Support House team as a priority. The emails for each of the House Teams is given below:

Timetabling

Currently we are reviewing our timetabling options, as we plan for our return to the school building in August. We are exploring a range of considerations to ensure that safety of our students and our community is paramount. This will involve ensuring our building is effectively managed and social distancing measures are employed. For this reason, students will not receive a timetable for their new courses for the the time being; whilst we remain at home students should manage their e-learning as they choose, creating their own timetables if they feel this helps them organise their time.

It is likely, as we move towards a return to school, that we will employ a ‘blended learning’ approach, in line with government advice, which will combine time in school with e-learning at home. It is also likely that we will employ staggered lunches and breaks, to reduce the numbers of students in our corridors and atrium at any one time. These adaptations to the timetable need to be considered and planned carefully, and this will take us some time. Students will be notified of their timetables once we have a model for this

E-Learning

From now until the summer holidays we will not be posting any e-learning for the following core subject areas:

This is to allow students to engage fully with their chosen subject courses, and will ensure that our Student Support staff are available to work with individual students who are experiencing difficulties at this time.

In addition, RMPS for S1 and S2 will be delivered as part of the Social Studies curriculum moving forwards. This means that students do not need to access a Google Classroom for RMPS if they are in S2. This, again, should help to minimise the number of ‘classrooms’ students are managing at this time.
