Covid-19 Update 26/03/20

Thursday 26th March 2020

Our Key Worker Hub is starting to gain momentum as the week has progressed.  Our systems have improved each day.  On Tuesday we expected a lot of students and few actually appeared.  This is not ideal as it breaches travel advice around unnecessary journeys for staff.

As of Wednesday,  our second day with young people,  things have worked well.

The young people we have ‘looked after’ this week have been super and staff report they have worked well.

I am also pleased to report that our Hub is open during the Easter break.

As a reminder to key workers; you should only take up this place if you have no other childcare options. Last Friday the Scottish Government confirmed their position and have told local authorities that, if one parent is a key worker and the other is not, the non-key worker should normally be expected to provide childcare. If it is at all possible for young people to be at home, then they should be.

We are adhering to Social Distancing Guidelines which makes clear that the fewer young people making the journey to a Hub, and the fewer young people in a Hub the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society. Our hub is only for a limited number of young people – those who are vulnerable and whose parents are critical to the Covid-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.

As long as you fall into this category and have no further childcare options available to you then we are delighted to provide Hub services which will then allow you to deliver critical Covid-19 support.
