Education Scotland Visit

Friday 26th January 2018

The school was pleased to welcome three representatives from Education Scotland.   The purpose of the visit was to review the effectiveness of Personal and Social Education (PSEd) within schools.  Lasswade was randomly selected as one of 50 schools across the country that Education Scotland are visiting between now and March.  A report will then be complied for Scottish Government.

The visit began with the team being met by representatives of our S6 Leadership Team followed by a presentation by members of our Senior Team on where we are in relation to PSEd and our plans for the future.   The rest of the day involved a series of classroom observations, focus group meetings with students and interviews with a range of staff and our partners.  These included staff from Light Up Learning and Skills Development Scotland amongst others.  Our thanks to these partners for giving up their time.

At the end of the day Education Scotland fed back positively to members of our Senior Team and Heads of House.  They were pleased with what they saw and what students told them about our systems and procedures to support them.   They were particularly complementary regarding our recently introduced Student Support structure and our vision as this these new teams roll out their work over the next few school sessions.

It is expected that a report on all 50 visits, with selected case studies,  will be published at the end of 2018.
