Last week saw the next phase of our Curricular Area Review (CAR) programme. The focus was on Mathematics with a team of Lasswade High School staff and personnel for other schools and services focusing in on Mathematics.
We were grateful for the support of staff from Lasswade Primary School, Burnbrae Primary School, Wester Hailes Education Centre and Jedburgh Grammar School who assisted school staff and Midlothian Council staff in this important part of our work.
The prime aim of our CARs being; subject teams knowing their strengths, identifying their areas for improvement with a team of internal and external staff validating what each subject team believes to be these strengths/improvement priorities
Over twenty lesson observations and eleven focus group sessions with a range of students carried out over two days allowed the CAR Team to get a strong sense of the strengths of the team as well as confirming identified, and suggesting new, areas for improvement.
A CAR Report will be shared with the Maths Team and associated areas of action taken forward in the coming months.Tweet  Share on Facebook
