August 2018, saw the launch of the Lasswade High School of Football. This is a hugely exciting new partnership with the Scottish Football Association and Bonnyrigg Rose. The Scottish FA Schools of Football are about more than just playing ability, they adopt a person first / player second model and use the medium of football to improve the social and academic abilities of the young people involved. In partnership with the SFA and Bonnyrigg Rose we hope this programme will help students develop in line with the schools DREAM values.
What the school of football looks like in S1:
As the years progress, our School of Football will develop into a pathway from S1 – S6 and offer a variety of opportunities available to the students who are successful in being selected.
Each year, all students from our associated primary schools will be invited to apply for a position in the School of Football and all students who apply will be invited to the initial development session. Students who then meet the criteria will be invited to a second session and then the final interview stage where the successful candidates will be selected. At present, correspondence is via Lasswade High School and the local primary school but parents/careers are more than welcome to contact the school on the details below for more information.
Any current P7 student who would like to be involved in the Lasswade High School of Football in S1 should be aware that the application process will start around Easter of P7. Information will go out to local primary schools at that time and Lasswade High School staff will visit local primary schools to present the information and hand out application forms.
Our lead member on our School of Football is Mr Dewar if you would like more information before then please contact him on the details below.
