S2 Creative Design Update

Our S2 Students have made an excellent start to the year in Creative Design. The S2 course has a focus on developing subject specific skills in both Art & Design and Design Technology. Students will also be developing their creative and critical thinking. 

For those who elect to continue Art & Design in S3, there will be a trip to Jupiter Artland before the change of timetable in May. This is a fantastic experience and a compulsory part of our S3 Art & Design curriculum. Please note that in line with our risk assessment process, students suitability for the trip will be reviewed on an individual basis. Places will be prioritised for those who engage well in Art & Design and meet our expectations for positive behaviour, both in the department and the wider school.

Creative Industries Showcase

Our Creative Industries Showcase is taking place on Thursday 21st November 6pm – 8pm. We look forward to welcoming our students and their families into the building to celebrate the creativity and achievements of our students. 

6.00pm-6.30pm: EXHIBITION

It is essential that this RSVP is completed by Friday 15th November so that we can check final numbers for the planning of the evening.

This part of the evening will include an exhibition showcasing S1-S6 work from a wide range of subject areas including: Creative Thinking, Photography, Design & Manufacture, Practical Woodworking, Graphic Communication, Built Environment, Media, Fashion and Art. We will also have a pop up shop where you can purchase some fantastic items made by our students.

6.30pm – 8:00pm: FASHION SHOW, DANCE, MEDIA SCREENING & AWARDS 

This year we will also have a fashion show, dance performance, media screening and live music which will begin at 6.30pm. This will be followed by our guest speaker Jonathan Bennett from Edinburgh College and some student awards. 

For this part of the evening please purchase a ticket from ParentPay for £2 per person. Tickets must be purchased before Friday 15th November. Numbers for this element are limited, and you can pick them up on the evening from the front door.

The event will include an Art, Photography and Design exhibition, as well as a shop where you can purchase products made by our students. This year we will also have a dance performance and fashion show, which will begin at 6.45pm followed by awards.
