Through initial work with Scottish Football Association and a partnership with Bonnyrigg Rose FC we have created a hugely successful programme for both boys and girls.

We have adopted the Scottish FA Schools of Football person first / player second model and use the medium of football to improve the social and academic abilities of the young people involved. We know this will help students develop in line with the schools values.

What the school of football looks like in S1:

• 4 periods per week

• Covering a variety of themes – first touch, passing, shooting, shaping etc

• Fitness testing and skills testing

• Sessions on healthy eating, nutrition and Mental Health

• Sessions taken by SFA C license

• S1 will compete in the league, league cup and Scottish Cup

• Reporting covered as per school BGE model

We now have an extensive School of Football pathway on offer from from S1 – S6 which offer a variety of opportunities to all students who are successful in being selected. Each year, all students from our associated primary schools will be invited to apply for a position in the School of Football and all students who apply will be invited to the initial practical development session. Students who then meet the criteria will be invited to a second session and then the final interview stage where the successful candidates will be selected. At present, correspondence is via Lasswade High School and the local primary school but parents/careers are more than welcome to contact the school on the details below for more information.

Any current P7 student who would like to be involved should be aware that information will go out to local primary schools and Lasswade High School staff will visit local primary schools to present the information and hand out application forms and links to Google Forms.
