Return to School 2: First Day Arrangements

Wednesday 11th August 2021

As we prepare for the return of our students on Wednesday 18th August this post shares First Day Arrangements with parents/carers.  We ask that parents/carers of our new S1 students share this information with their children.  For all other year groups messages will be posted in Year Group Google Classrooms (please note these have been renamed to reflect new year groups, S2 becoming S3 etc).

Our Return to School 1 post, covered Covid-19 related mitigations and arrangements that will be in place from the start of term.  This post covers First Day Arrangements. Regular posts for the rest of this week will follow on:

First Day Arrangements

We know that students want to get back into their learning as soon as possible.  However, there is some necessary and key information that needs to be shared with students upon their return.  Therefore, on Wednesday 18th August:

All mitigations outlined in our Return to School 1 website post will be expected and applied.

Period 1 lasts until 9.20am and during that time students will:

At 9.20am our normal timetable will begin with period 2 classes as outlined on student timetables.

Please note there will be no school catering for the first six weeks of term.  Students should bring their own packed lunch and snacks.  Water fountains are available and it is advised that student bring their own water bottle.

We have split breaks for S1/2/3 and Senior Phase students.  Our default is that students are outside at these times.  Please send your child to school with a jacket as appropriate.  We do have wet weather provision in very poor weather.   S1 students are not allowed off campus at break/lunch.  All other year groups are but should follow Covid-19 rules and guidance that applies to wider society.

For the first 6 weeks we will allow S6 to access the ‘Costa’ area when they have no timetabled classes.  Mr Hornell and Mr Chisholm will work with School Captains to secure a solution from the beginning of October as we expect the Costa area to be unavailable from that time.

All students are expected to be wearing school uniform unless they have PE on a particular day.  Usually on the first day we advise everyone to bring PE kit as students don’t know their timetable.  However, we cannot do that this session as we have no access to our changing rooms for the first 6 weeks.  Therefore, for Wednesday 18th August please be aware of the following information regarding attending school dressed in PE kit:
