Session 2022/23: Course Choice Update

We are currently working on organising our Senior Phase student choices to ensure as many students as possible are allocated their choices, which may include their reserve choices.

Students who have applied for a School/College partnership course at Edinburgh or Borders Colleges will soon be getting confirmation on whether or not they have been offered a space on their chosen course. Students are responsible for managing these communications and personal email addresses should have been given at the time of application. This is the way in which these colleges will make any offers – sometimes emails will go into ‘junk’ folders so it’s worth checking here too!

Students who have already noted interest in any of the Foundation Apprenticeship Level 4,5 or 6 courses will have attended taster sessions or introduction sessions prior to the Easter holiday and will be contacted by Ms Mitchell after the Easter holiday to finalise their choices.

We hope to communicate with all students moving into S3, S4, S5 or S6 at the start of May to inform them which courses they will be studying when we change our timetable towards the end of May.  Our working assumption is that we will change our timetable on Tuesday 24th May.   There will not be any changes made to courses allocated unless a student has been inaccurately coursed (eg. a wrong course has been entered during the admin process). In this case, we will cross reference student choices using the paper form completed during the course choice conversations.

There will be a short re-coursing window in August following SQA results for any students who require to be re-coursed as a result of grades obtained – details will be communicated in due course.

This is a complex process and not all students will be able to get all of their choices. In this instance, students will be invited to discuss possibilities with either a member of SLT or Student Support to agree what would be the most suitable alternative course. We appreciate the understanding of parents/carers and students while we work through this process and prepare for our timetable change.
