Equalities

Lasswade High is committed to promoting a positive and inclusive culture in which all people are valued and supported to fulfil their potential. This commitment is given regardless of:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Whether a person is married or in a civil partnership
  • Whether a person is pregnant or on maternity leave
  • Race (including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin)
  • Religion or belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation

We will never discriminate against anyone on the basis of these “protected characteristics”.

The staff at Lasswade High are trained in providing an inclusive environment for all and every learner is celebrated and supported by our school community, particularly through the work for Black History Month in October and other cultural days such as Interfaith Week in November. We are working towards achieving an LGBT Schools Charter award. The LGBT Charter Rights help safeguard lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people’s human rights.
